Do You Remember When? Postcommodity video preview

Do You Remember When?: Opening reception for Postcommodity

Aug. 28, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Ceramics Research Center
Tickets: Free

Do You Remember When is Postcommodity’s site-specific installation and intervention that makes up the first part of the Native Confluence: Sustaining Cultures project spanning the fall 2009 season at the Ceramics Research Center (CRC). A blessing will be performed at 7 p.m. to honor Indigenous/non-Indigenous collaborations and cooperation for a sustainable future.

Organized by curator Peter Held, Native Confluence speaks to a native worldview in terms of inter-generational methods of practicing sustainability. The approach to organic materials and tools from ancestral traditions allows new doors to open. Holistic in its outlook, the idea of sustainability is consciousness about the whole – whole community, world and self.

The Postcommodity residency begins Aug. 24, with the installation project opening to the public Aug. 29.

Other residencies during Native Confluence: Sustaining Cultures:

Sept. 21-25: Nora Naranjo Morse

Nov. 9-14: Athena & Bill Steen
