Welcome!
Welcome to the ASU Art Museum Blog!
We’re excited to share amazing contemporary art with everyone! If you love art and ceramics, this is the place for you! If you don’t know much about contemporary art, don’t worry. We’re here to help you understand and appreciate art in a dynamic and fun way.
If you thought art was only for “those” people, you’re wrong! Art is a medium of communication; a way for people to make statements about our world, a way to entertain and enliven, even a way to explore and understand the human condition, all in a format that transcends traditional barriers of spoken or written language. The use of paint, fabric, wood, paper, video, porcelain and myriad other materials presents to us three-dimensional representations of life or concepts in a way that maybe we haven’t thought of before. Art can enrich us, empower us, and sometimes, yeah, confuse us. But it will always make you think. And for that, we are better for the experience.
ASU Art Museum is always on the move! You can join us for a tour of artists’ studios, attend lectures with collectors, artists and instructors who are passionate about what they do, even travel the world with us. We plan to post photos and video of the goings-on here and we hope that you’ll be inspired to join us in our adventures. We’re located on the west side of the Tempe campus, at 10th Street and Mill Avenue. We’re open to the public, and best of all, we’re FREE.
Our Season Opening reception is next Friday night, September 26, 7pm – 9pm. Join us for the opening of The Other Mainstream ll: A Selection from the Collection of Mikki and Stanley Weithorn; the opening of Midstream: New Ceramics from the Heartland, a trunk show, live performance by artist Teri Frame and live music. Refreshments will be served. What better way to spend a Friday night than with a free evening of art?
