Video Project Space @ Aqua Art Miami
As I return from paternity leave for the birth of my son I thought I would send an update on some recent activities. I was contacted in April and invited by one of the directors of Aqua Art Miami, one of the major art fairs that take place in Miami the first weekend of December (this year Dec. 2-7), to curate a video project space for their Wynwood location. Of course I was honored and accepted immediately.
Over the past couple of months I used my network of video artists to connect with new video artists, culminating in my contacting over 425 individual artists and inviting them to submit work for review. The results were amazing! I received over 1,200 works to review and spent much time during my leave reviewing the work, sneaking viewing times as the boy napped and in late evenings.
Through the process I have discovered so many artists for whom I had previously been unaware, selecting ten artists whose work will be included in the project to be titled I’m Keeping an Eye on You. I was also fortunate to find so many artists for consideration of future group and solo exhibitions, so I will be contacting many of them and keeping you up to date.
The exhibition I’m Keeping an Eye on You will include the works of international artists Mounira Al Solh, Rachel Garfield, Charlotte Ginsborg, Pia Greschner, Myung-Soo Kim, Yaron Lapid, Jeff Luckey, Johnna MacArthur, Michael Mohan, and Corinna Schnitt. It will be presented as a single-channel projected loop in Miami before expanding into a full exhibition that is scheduled to open at the ASU Art Museum in early August of 2009.
More complete details will be placed on the ASU Art Museum website in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, here is a link to the Aqua Art Miami website with details on the fair: http://aquaartmiami.com
